The Shape of Desire?

The moment a disruption comes into view, the string of anxiety is pulled taut. Like an invisible hand making subtle course corrections, tension eases only when people and environments are placed back onto a prescribed path—allowing authority to settle in, as smoothly as flowing water. But if the flow deviates even slightly, the tendon of control surges again, trying to return everything to its original track. This desire, which finds comfort only in predictability, ultimately tightens around itself through an endless cycle of domination.

Today, we live in an intelligent society that believes the accumulation of vast data allows us to anticipate the future—at least within a certain range—if we so choose. This desire for control immediately tightens its grip to restore order at the slightest sign of disruption to the rules, and then relaxes and loosens again when relief arrives. Yet it cannot endure the gaps for long, and quickly seizes again—repeating an endless loop of ‘tension (a spike) → release (a drop) → tension (a spike).’ In the end, the curve of this desire reveals how our responses fluctuate according to how far the external flow of the world(𝑥(𝑡)), diverges from the perceived baseline(𝜇). This desire shares a similar nature with the element of ‘metal’, so the color of this element would be applied through a subjective lens.

흐트러진 틈새가 눈에 들어오는 순간, 불안의 현(弦)이 팽팽하게 당겨진다. 보이지 않는 손이 궤도를 미세하게 조정하듯, 사람과 환경을 정해진 경로에 올려놓자 안도하며 긴장은 비로소 느슨해지고 권위는 물 흐르듯 자리 잡는다. 예측이 한 치라도 벗어나면, 다시 통제의 힘줄이 솟구쳐 모든 것을 본래의 궤도에 되돌리려 한다. 결국 멈출 수 없는 지배의 반복으로 스스로를 조여간다.

오늘날은 방대한 데이터가 쌓여, 마음만 먹으면 미래를 일정 범위 안에서 가늠할 수 있다고 믿는 지능적 사회이다. 이 통제 욕망은 규칙이 흐트러질 기미만 보여도 곧바로 고삐를 죄어 질서를 복원하고, 안도감이 찾아오면 다시 긴장이 풀려 느슨해진다. 그러나 생긴 틈을 견디지 못해 곧 또다시 움켜쥐며 ‘긴장(치솟은 포인트) → 완화(내려감) → 긴장(치솟은 포인트)’의 루프를 끝없이 되풀이한다. 결국 이 욕망의 곡선은 외부 환경의 흐름(x(t))이 기준(μ)에서 얼마나 벗어나는지에 따라 어떻게 반응하는지에 대한 흐름일 것이다.

본 욕망은 오행 중 ‘금’적 성질과 유사하여, 본 성질의 색감을 참고하여 주관적으로 적용될 것이다
