The Shape of Desire?

Sensations and shapes soundlessly simmered deep inside find a crack through which they erupt. Language that hesitated at the tip of the tongue and images that wandered in dim depth suddenly pour out like a waterfall, setting the air into vibration. Suppression shatters, and the space becomes filled with my traces. The echoes and drawings once pressed down in silence now resound in all directions—liberating me, proving me, and reverberating outward to make me fully, unmistakably myself.

The explosive moment of revealing something is dazzling. Competitions, virality, NFTs, merchandise, publications, and Good morning interviews... Sometimes it is not the fire inside me, but the number of clicks outside that determines the scale of expression. Perhaps I, too, turned to art simply out of the desire to express something. Yet in a society where money takes center stage, creators are often selling their 'honesty' and wrap it in the packaging of 'aesthetic taste.' In response to the question, “Don’t you have more entertaining content?”, many online creators slowly gather their materials again, express again, and erupt(E1). Then comes the fall—and this desire begins to accumulate again, gradually. Its amplitude and height vary each time, but the more sincere the expression intended, the deeper the descent is likely to be. This desire shares a similar nature with the element of 'fire', so the color of this element would be applied through a subjective lens.

내면 깊숙이 숨죽여 끓던 감각과 형상이 틈을 찾아 분출한다. 혀끝에서 머뭇대던 언어, 어둑한 심층을 떠돌던 이미지는 한순간 폭포처럼 쏟아져 공기를 진동시킨다. 억눌림이 깨지고, 공간은 나의 흔적으로 가득 찬다. 침묵 속에서 눌려 있던 그 메아리와 드로잉은 사방을 울려 나를 또렷이 해방시키고, 증명하고, 울려 퍼지며 나를 나 답게 만든다.

무언가를 발설하려는 폭발의 순간은 찬란하다. 공모전, 바이럴, NFT, 굿즈, 출판, 굿모닝 인터뷰.. 가끔 내 안의 불꽃이 아니라 바깥의 클릭 수가 표현의 스케일을 결정하기도 한다. 나 역시 무언가를 표현하고 싶은 마음에 예술을 한 것일테다. 하지만, 돈이 중심이 되는 사회에서 종종 크리에이터는 ‘솔직함’을 팔고, ‘취향’을 포장지로 감싼다. "더 재미있는 콘텐츠 없어요?"라는 말에 많은 온라인 크리에이터들은 다시, 천천히 재료를 모으고 다시 표현하며 터진다(E1). 그리고 다시 낙하하며 이 욕망은 다시 점진적으로 쌓이는데, 진폭과 높이는 상황마다 다르겠다. 다만, 이것이 진정으로 그들이 남기려 했던 표현일수록 낙폭이 클 것이다.

본 욕망은 오행 중 ‘화’의 성질과 유사하여, 본 성질의 색감을 참고하여 주관적으로 적용될 것이다
