The Shape of Desire?

After climbing an endless slope, the moment the final step lands on the summit, a thrill ignites throughout the body. Time and sweat, layered upon each other, condense into a single point and flash in front of the eyes with burning intensity. The accumulated effort and hours seem to crystallize into a burst of radiant light, and all tension and doubt dissolve—replaced by a firm, grounded sense of fulfillment. Like stepping out of a long, dark tunnel into sunlight, the fruit of accomplishment instantly fills the heart and dazzles with brilliance.

To strive and achieve within a competitive society embodies a wide range of meanings. Looking back on childhood, the sense of pride from small accomplishments (E1) often fueled further challenges—until one eventually hit an obstacle (E2), entered a period of stagnation, and felt the weight of helplessness. 끝없는 경사를 기어오르다 마지막 한 발이 정상에 박히는 순간, 전율이 온몸에 타오른다. 켜켜이 쌓인 시간과 땀이 한 점으로 응축돼 눈앞에서 뜨겁게 번쩍이고, 축적된 시간과 노력이 응축되어 강렬한 빛이 보이는 듯하며, 긴장과 의심은 사라지며, 단단한 충만감이 자리 잡는다. 마치 어두운 터널을 끝까지 걸어 나왔을 때 마주한 햇빛처럼, 분명 성취의 결실은 단번에 마음을 가득 채우며 눈부시다.

경쟁사회 속에서 노력을 하며 성취를 한다는 건 무척 많은 의미를 담는다. 특히 어릴 때를 돌아보면 작은 성취(E1)를 이룬 순간 뿌듯함을 느껴 더욱 더 많은 도전을 하다가, 장애(E2)에 부딪히며 어느 정도 정체기가 생겨 무력감을 느끼기도 한다. 그러다 의심과 혼란스러운 시기가 다시 낮아지기도 하고 또 다시 힘을 얻어 성장(E3)이 가속화되며 이루지 못한 욕망도 증가한다. 단지 안정성이 아닌 스스로의 성장을 지나 내면의 흔들림과 함께 무언가를 갈망하고 이루려 하는 에너지이다.
